insomnia56: TLR (onlineBOTS) see off Team Infused

by Archive

The Last Resort (onlineBOTS) have managed to secure a place in the Upper Bracket Final after defeating Team Infused over three maps in the Semi-Finals. This means they have guaranteed their seed with this match and a cash lump sum of £900.

In somewhat of an entertaining series, TLR (onlineBOTS) have proven that their ESL UK performance (a slight different iteration of the lineup though) were not one LAN wonders in the UK, by beating the best UK team at the event had to offer. The maps were set as de_overpass, de_inferno & de_mirage.

The first map, overpass, was an incredibly open map to watch, from the word go, it was tough to predict who would win this map. Infused opened up with a great pistol round win, but that win, didn’t give them the neccessary boost to win the follow up two, as TLR (onlineBOTS) picked up three. Then it all turned around, Infused managed to pick up the next five rounds in a row before the recovering economy for TLR managed to pick up the following round to make it 4:6. It once again turned as Infused pull out another round to make it 7:4 but couldn’t maintain the discipline needed to further that lead. They lost the following four rounds for it to be 8:7 in favour of TLR. Another topsy turvy half beckoned and despite a pistol round win for TLR, Infused pulled back the score to level at 9:9. Again more rounds were exchanged before TLR started to lock down the bombsites better, and made a lead of 15:11. After opening up with a kill, Infused had the final round at 5v4 before some poor decisions and some good aggressive play helped TLR manage to steer the ship in the right direction. Suddenly it was 4v2 and Infused had to push A to plant the bomb, unfortunately for them, 2 of TLR were waiting, and going 1v1 against these Estonian’s seems like a bad move. TLR managed to win the first map 16:11.

On the second map, inferno, it was a very lopsided result as Team Infused displayed a great sense of holding down bombsites and carefully planned rotates. It almost fell like a contrast to map 1 where they seemed much more disciplined and simply outplayed TLR (onlineBOTS). The first half finished as 11:4 and after securing the pistol round, Team Infused managed to secure the follow up two rounds making it 14:4. TLR did win the buy up round but lost on an anti-eco the following round where they were in a 2v2 afterplant situation. ZED got the final kill of the map to seal the deal, and Infused won 16:5.

The final map saw de_mirage being played, and after an early lead from TLR (onlineBOTS), Team Infused mounted a minor comeback, to bring the half back to 7:4. However after that point, the CTs of Team Infused simply couldn’t win another round and went on to lose the first half 11:4.  After winning the opening two rounds in the second half, TLR looked like they were going to cruise to victory, but Infused again started piling up a few rounds, before TLR could even pick up another round. Suddenly we had a game on at 14:8 when force buys were becoming a “thing”,  but Team Infused could only pick up one more round out of the next three before falling down to the lower bracket, losing 16:9.

Safe to say some questions will now be asked of the Team Infused camp, can they pull through the lower bracket, especially as both fm-eSports and Molotovs n Marshmallows are down there currently. Stay tuned to UKCSGO.com for all the latest updates around insomnia56 this weekend.
