insomnia56: Upper Bracket Final – CAZ v TLR

by Archive

It’s the Upper Bracket final. The winner of this heads into insomnia56’s Grand Final to battle for the largest share of the £7,500 prize pool.

The first map was Inferno, with CAZ starting the CT side and them picking up the pistol round. However, a force-buy from TLR managed to win them the second round and those following, allowing them to mount a 1-3 lead. CAZ didn’t let it lie however, coming straight back with a defuse, and then destroying the T side in the following rounds, bringing them 5-3 up. With another round being picked up by TLR before the CAZ side managing to pick up a following two lead them to a 7-4 lead. But it wasn’t going to be so simple – the Estonian side fought back and managed to keep it close, but CAZ took the advantage to take a narrow lead in the half at 8-7. The second half started with TLR taking the pistol round before CAZ picking up the following few rounds. Not before TLR take the map 16-14.

The second map was Inferno. CAZ came forward and took the pistol round, but it was TLR who wobble forward with their force-buy and take the second round, pushing CAZ into an eco round in the third securing them the following couple rounds. TLR managed to bring the game to 1-5 before any chance of CAZ echoing back and picking up another round but TLR easily fought back and kept their lead now at 2-6. HS managed to get a solid 4k to halt CAZ’s advance into the next round, with a couple nice crisp headshots included in there. However, the eco round from CAZ straight after, with Dephh keeping the AWP from the round before, taking out a fair few amount of the TLR boys before claiming the round for themselves. Picking up the next round before some AWP goodness from cheti taking TLR to 4-8 up. CAZ then pick up the three rounds immediately following allowing them to even the game up at 7-8, allowing the Estonians a slight advantage coming through. The pistol round was picked up by CAZ, including a wonderful 4k from keita, including stopping the defuser on the spot. A forcebuy from TLR isn’t able to stop CAZ from winning their game this time, with CAZ managing to halt the onslaught before it starts. The rounds following were picked up by CAZ, allowing them to get a 11-8 lead quickly. CAZ just continued pushing through taking it to 14-9, before TLR manage to push through and score up two more rounds making it closer to 14-11 after something goes horribly wrong on their A site defence throwing them into an eco and it ending up as 14-12. CAZ managed to pull it back, however, knocking them out of the B site taking the round, and then the one following to win the map 16-12.

The third and final map was Dust 2, one that could have either team expected to win it. But before the game could go ahead TLR were potentially DISQUALIFIED due to viewing the twitch stream between rounds, which could be used to see economy or strats and play through other usually unknown information. This sends CAZ straight to the Grand Final, and TLR are sent out of the competition. More information on this later.
