Monumentalis drop yet another team

by Archive

Monumentalis have had a troubled time since entering the UK CS Scene. They’ve had a few very promising teams under their banner over the past 7 months but can never seem to hold onto a team for more than a one or two month period, now dropping their third team in that timeframe.

Their current team consisted of 4 players who previously went by the name “Perfect 5/7” and then later they picked up Aaron “ajaY” Corrie to complete the roster. The team failed to qualify for the UK Masters tournament and also didn’t get into the ESL UK Premiership. The did however play the ESL UK Open Qualification Ladder to try and gain access to the ESL UK Premiership in the Summer Season.

The team were also headed to LAN events like Insomnia i58 with funding from the Monumentalis organization.

One of the owners of Monumentalis, Daniel Wootton-Howell, contacted us in order to give us a comment:

The lads are spot on but the results just been bad and our sponsors aren’t happy with the fact they aren’t even top 10 UK and not in ESL or UK masters etc which in what is a currently undeveloped scene compared to other scenes is not great for them in regards to exposure 🙁 shit because the lads are quality lads and hope they do well at next LAN but is what it is, more news on who we pick up shortly 🙂

However that’s not the story that was given to us by one of the team’s players. who came to us following their departure from Monumentalis. His comments echo topics that other past teams have brought up:

Long story short, one of the owners decided he’d play in the Monumetalis Overwatch team and didn’t pay attention to CS at all. Then they break promises about LAN support. Though I should mention that only one of the owners, Awthor, has been supportive and nice the whole time. I was warned they’re sketchy but we thought we’d find out for ourselves and people were right. I think Awthor might even leave the organisation because of disagreements with the other owner.

As far as we know the team will continue to play together while looking for another organization to represent them.
