Review: FadeCase Karambit

by Archive

We were contacted by Inertia Computers to do a review of the FadeCase Karambit knife, an accurate replica of the in-game skin, as they have just become the UK reseller of this collectors item. As it is a CSGO in-game item coming to life, and a UK based company, we thought we would open the doors to doing reviews (and I really wanted to get my hands on one of the knives!).

The attention to detail that went into the manufacturing of this knife is impressive, they have kept the design on par with the game, right down to the patterns you can choose from. Even the box that the knife comes in is elegant enough to be part of the display.

The knife itself is a thing of beauty. The shading on the “case hardened” knife that I received was stunning, and what was even more surprising was the knife was actually sharp! Now for a word of warning, this is not a toy. No matter how many times you hear those words, when holding this knife you are urged to spin it round your finger. DON’T. After subconsciously attempting this several times, I have luckily avoided any cuts or severed fingers, but it has been a close call every time. The curve of the blade, while unique to this knife’s design, makes is a very unpredictable object to have rotating near your flesh.

What’s the main difference?

Without trying to be funny, the price is the biggest difference. Upon writing this article there were no factory new case hardened karambits on the market to compare the prices, the closest I could find was a minimal ware starting at around the £198 mark. The FadeCase Karambit would set you back only £39.99 which is quite a saving, and you could get some real life use out of your purchase. I’m not suggesting you start off your next 5-a-side football kick about in the park with a knife round, but you will have yourself a very fancy looking letter opener.

Is the FadeCase Karambit worth it?

If you are an avid CSGO fan, and want to start collecting the real life knives, then this is a good place to start. Inertia Computers are already taking stock of M9 Bayonets and Huntsman knives too, so your collection could go quite quickly. The quality of product for the price is excellent. I am still surprised that despite this being a knife designed to be a display item, it is sharp enough to be used as a real knife. For that reason, it should definitely be kept out of reach of children, or childish adults, of which there are more than a few in the gaming world.
