Splyce put in a strong show vs Virtus Pro

by Archive

Coming into the 2nd best of three of the CEVO finals here in London, we expected this to be quite a 1 sided game with Virtus Pro taking charge of the game early, which was not the case. Starting off on Mirage, a strong map for Virtus Pro historically and even for many North American teams which gives us a good map to start a potential stomp. Starting off map 1, we saw Splyce taking the pistol round very convincingly then instantly losing the following round. This was a frequent occurrence throughout the first map with them ending out the first half 10-5.

Going onto their counter-terrorist side, we saw an instant improvement in the team and saw abE dominate the server for Splyce by getting a total of 24 kills for mirage alone. Throughout their CT side, we saw Splyce struggle closing out the game and losing close, key rounds which led them to fail to close out the game and we had Virtus Pro win the first map 16-14.

After this, we went onto Splyce’s map pick of Cobblestone, with Virtus pro having an issue on Cobble in the past, with this we still all expected Virtus Pro to take this map.

On this map, we saw someone who was consistently criticised across the board by fans, by commentators and also players within his region, Professor Chaos.  With Splyce taking control of this game via the terrorist side, we saw them win the first few rounds with ease which led them to win the half 10-5 on the terrorist side. After this, we saw Virtus Pro slowly build a comeback on their terrorist side but were beaten with the map finishing 16-11.

The final map in this series was Overpass and with Virtus Pro having a decent record on this map, we were expecting Virtus Pro to take this one. The first half, as expected, started and finished the way we expected with an 11-4 finish in favour to VP. Meanwhile on the Splyce side, we saw Arya take the dominating fragging role within the team with 24 kills on Overpass. After a potential comeback, VP took the series win on Overpass with a final score of 16-11.
