TSM and EnVyUs proceed in DreamHack London

by Archive

The second day of DreamHack London got underway with the two Danish giants going head to head, Team Dignitas vs TeamSoloMid, with the stage for this match-up being Mirage and Overpass, leaving Train as the deciding map if needed.

Team Dignitas came into this match-up as the underdog after finishing second in their group, but they started off Mirage with a brilliantly executed terrorist strat, catching TSM completely off guard. Sadly the motivation gained from that vital pistol round saw them only claim another four rounds that half, making the halftime score a comfortable 10:5 to TSM. TeamSoloMid took the momentum from the first half with them into the second, and only let one round slip, bringing Mirage to an end with the finals score of 16:6.

Moving forward to Overpass, which was TSM’s own map choice, people were expecting another one-sided scoreline. However, Team Dignitas were not ready to roll over and admit defeat, narrowly losing their Counter-Terrorist half 8:7. They kept the pressure up and looked to be on the heading for the first overtime of the event, but TSM managed to win the 30th round, winning the series 2:0 and claiming the first final spot.

The second match-up in the London based semi-finals was EnVyUs vs Copenhagen Wolves, with Mirage, Cobblestone and Dust2 being the maps of choice. Copenhagen Wolves had a similar start to Team Dignitas, taking the vital pistol round but failing to take advantage of the economy boost and losing the following rounds. By half time, the Wolves had only managed to get three points on the scoreboard heading into their terrorist half. However, they looked strong on the Terrorist side getting some vital rounds on the board, but with the head start that EnVyUs had they were unable to manage a comeback and the final score was 16:8.

Cobblestone proceeded to have a very similar first half scoreline with EnVyUs, securing 13 rounds on the Terrorist side. But, after swapping sides the Copenhagen Wolves looked to be ready to do the same, winning seven rounds in a row. At that point the French side of EnVyUs turned things up a notch and didn’t drop any more rounds, winning the map 16:9 and the series 2:0.

This completed the semi-finals and puts TSM and EnVyUs in the grand finals.
