uFrag win first GAMEFACE UK Cash Cup #1

by Archive

GAMEFACE ran their first ever Cash Cup last night featuring 16 teams, and it was the UKCSGO 4th ranked team, uFrag, that claimed first place and took the majority of the £200 prize pool. The final featured uFrag and a team known as dEaLWiYhiT to finish off GAMEFACE’s inaugaral tournament.

A new look uFrag side, who are yet to announce their replacements to RIXJ and Peggyyyyy, had a fairly simple journey into the final, taking the first round against “The Crinkle Flongs” (enjoying these names) 16-5 on Cache, a comfortable ride first off. Then it was them up against Barrage eSports, who were missing fisher[A] from their i56 line-up, taking it 16-9 also on Cache. Then it was to face off against SMASH, playing their former team mate RIXJ, and comfortably dispatched them 16-7 on Overpass.

Team dEaLWiYhiT (ahem), a team made up of keita, JT, ono, vertiGo and benkofk, also had a fairly simple route, albeit losing a few more rounds in the process. First up was Dex Gaming, who were comfortably beat 16-7 on Cache. Then it was Playhack’s turn to have a crack at the side made up of some well known faces from the UK scene but instead get downed 16-13 on Dust 2. Then the boys played up against “b0mbxD” who also ended up not being too big of an issue for the side, taking them 16-11 on Cache.

The final took place on one map, and it was uFrag who took it 16-11 on Dust 2, picking up £140. This is a new-look uFrag side, featuring two new players. Their team was seen to be playing with:

Mike “Powell” Powell
Adam “adamxoxo” Rotherham
Tautvydas “HypeIzBack” Paldavicius
Harry “Yoshi” Witt
Tramaine “xfp” Stanley

Powell was brought in to replace RIXJ, who left the squad after having massive news which restricted his in-game time. Not too long after that, Peggyyyyy went and left to go join the new Infused roster, leaving another hole for uFrag to fill up, which was quickly covered by xfp, who was most recently seen playing for Monumentalis during i56 and the side that had left Monumentalis alongside fearLess. Whether or not xfp is the team’s permanent replacement for RIXJ is unknown – but it’s all up in the air still.
