UK Masters: Week 5 Roundup

by Archive

Coming into the fifth week of the UK Masters, we are slowly concluding the outcome of the online portion of the event and we had some great games this week!
Coming into game one, we saw the newly acquired CAZ team, Formally known as The Working Men, facing off against Reason Gaming which was the matchup we have all been looking forward to since the ESL Premiership Finals where TWM took the win that time. For the first map, we all expected a Jakem speciality map and we got it as our first game, Mirage! On the first half, we saw a master class on the terrorist side coming out from CAZ with Kostas “tsack” Theodoropoulos being one of the main culprits of why CAZ managed to build up 10 rounds on their T Side to finish the half 10-5. Going into the 2nd half, we saw a similar line of play but for Reason instead of CAZ and we saw Reason have an insane Terrorist side thanks to Conor “conoR” McCool and Reasons new boy Dipparn from Sweden who both dropped 30 kills to win Reason map 1 16-13!

Going into the 2nd map Reason started on the Terrorist side, continuing the dominance we saw on their T side of Mirage with conoR stepping it up with his performance yet again. The rounds went back and forth however and we saw the half end 8-7 in the favour of CAZ’s CT side. After the half swap, CAZ stormed ahead with their terrorist half and even with a stand-in they dominated Reason’s CT holds and took the map 16-10.

The 2nd matchup of the week was possibly the best matchup we will be seeing all season with Orgles5, Currently leading in the UK Masters, facing up against FM eSports, another team contesting the top spot for UK Masters! Going into map 1, we got a very unexpected outcome on the first side of Train and that was FM eSports picking up 11 rounds on their CT side, after getting stomped on their T side, RattlesnK’s Orgles5 couldn’t manage to bring the match back and lose out on Map 1 16-5! A huge win for FM here on the first map.

Going into Dust 2, the second map of the match, we saw a better performance coming out from Orgles5 with them picking up 9 rounds on their Terrorist side to FM’s 6 but even then, that wasn’t enough to win out against FM eSports with them picking up 10 rounds in a row to finish out the game 16-9. This means FM is now tied with Orgles5 for the top spot in the league.

Coming into the last matchup of Week 5, we saw Ionic.GG facing off against the Mix team of MnM on Mirage! The first half gave us a consistent performance from Ionic’s Terrorist side with Jonathan “Sheekey” Sheekey being in the limelight yet again, just like last week, by topping the scoreboard and helping Ionic get 10 rounds on their T side! With MnM being a mix team, we saw the set strats come into play from Ionic and saw them power through MnM 16-6 on Mirage!

Going into Dust 2, some of the casters thought that MnM might have a better chance on a map like this with it being more of map suited for mix teams but, this wasn’t the case. We saw Ionic build up a dominating Terrorist side by simply out skilling the MnM lineup and racking up 12-3 on the terrorist side. Shortly after, Ionic managed to win against MnM 16-6 to finish out week 5 of the UK Masters!

Next week we’ll have more awesome matchups from the UK Masters League, you can watch the UK Masters tournament over at http://twitch.tv/multiplay_csgo every Tuesday and Wednesday night
