UK Masters – Week 6 Roundup

by Archive

Week 6 of the UK masters has concluded, this week only featured just 2 great matches due to Team Infused dropping out of the tournament early on and Molotovs and Marshmallows not featuring a mix this week, with rumours stating that they’re dropping out too.

This week saw Reason Gaming take on league toppers Orgless and newly signed CAZ eSports face off against Riot Gaming

The first map between Reason and Orgless was Cache, with Orgless choosing to start on the T side after winning the knife. Reason Gaming however showed they’re not here to mess around, picking up 7 rounds straight off the bat before Orgless could even respond, as they then on a roll as they picked up 5. Reason however regained composure and picked up the final 3 rounds of the half, giving them a strong 10-5 scoreline as they went into their Terrorist side. Another pistol win by Reason brought them to a 13-5 lead before Orgless finally stepped up. They took 9 rounds in a row to gain a one round advantage. Reason stormed the B site, taking Orgless by surprise and evened up the score 14-14, as both teams shared the final two rounds they brought it to Overtime where Orgless finally took the game 19-16.

Map 2 was to be Mirage, with Reason Gaming starting on the Terrorist side. They lost the pistol but won the following eco round and four more rounds off the back of that as they started the half 5-1. Reason stormed ahead however, with then Orgless having no answer to their opponent’s plays and the score quickly became 10-2, with the half ending 10-5 in favour of Reason Gaming. The second half almost exactly mirrored the first. Orgless took the pistol round but Reason gained yet another eco win and then managed to win every round after that to take Mirage 16-6, sharing the maps 1-1.

The second match was between CAZ eSports and Riot Gaming. It started on Mirage where some outstanding performances by the CAZ eSports side immediately gained them the upper hand in the match. As CAZ took the pistol and 11 rounds more on their CT half, without any real answer from Riot this made the half-time score 12-3. Riot had no response to CAZ’s dominance, even losing a 3v1 after-plant to James “Kryptix” Affleck, ultimately causing them to lose the map 16-3.

The UK’s home map Cache was next up. Riot starting on the Terrorist side lost the pistol round and the eco rounds after but came alive and won 4 rounds off the back of that. CAZ however showed their dominance, winning the next 6 rounds in succession before Riot could answer. The score at the half ended up 9-6 in favour of the CAZ team. Riot were eager to prove that they can beat the likes of CAZ with 2 quick rounds to start the half but CAZ said no, working their way up to match point before Riot retaliated, but it was all in vein as they only managed 2 more rounds before CAZ put them out of their misery and won the map 16-10.
And that ends week 6 of the UK Masters league. There’s only one more league week to go before the play-offs start on the 6th of August where the top four teams will battle it out over 2 days to see which 2 teams will be fighting for the prize money at Insomnia 58 at the end of August. and as always you can catch the games on Multiplay’s Twitch channel here next Tuesday and Wednesday
