UK Masters: Week 4 Roundup

by Archive

Coming into the 5th week of the UK Masters, we are starting to learn about the tendencies of some of the teams coming into the games, instead of going in blind. With the first match of this week being jakem‘s Working Men, hot off their win at the ESL UK Premiership this past weekend and having Kryptix playing for them, all was looking positive going into Cobblestone. With TWM been known for their strong T sides, we saw TWM grind 11 rounds out on the terrorist side before hudzG and co come back into the fight and win back the last 4 rounds. Meanwhile after these last 4 rounds, TWM managed to win pistol and stream roll over FM eSports on Cobblestone and end the match 16-4.

Coming onto Train, FM looked a lot more promising with both teams equally going head to head on the first half on Train with the slight edge going to FM eSports. Transitioning on to the 2nd half of Train, we saw nothing but the same from the 1st half even an even scoreline yet again which we saw the teams going into overtime. After the first 30 rounds, we saw a slight difference in the team’s performances with FM managing to grind through not just 1st overtime, but the 2nd one also and winning the matchup 22-19 and going 1-1 in the first game of week 5.

Coming into the 2nd match of the week, we saw two underperforming line-ups of Riot Gaming and Ionic.GG facing off against one another on one of the easiest maps to play as a mix team so we expected a great matchup. Going into the first half of the map, we saw a great first half coming out of Ionic with Sheekey coming out on the top of the scoreboard for them but Velox playing out of his mind for Ionic with 18 frags and topping the scoreboard for the whole server. Even though we saw a promising start from Velox and co, Ionic managed to grind out the majority of the rounds after and win the map 16-8 convincingly on their counter-terrorist half.

On the 2nd map, we saw expected a similar type of matchup and scoreline coming out of the two teams and this is what we got, with Ionic on the Terrorist side, we saw them rack up 9 rounds against Riot’s 6 on the CT side, but most interesting point was the ex-Ionic players from I57 Snodz and Danceyz topping the scoreboards for their respected teams. But yet again, we saw Ionic’s CT Side be their strength with them winning out the map 16-11.

That’s it for week 5 of the UK Masters, we’ll be back with another roundup next week!
