Into the Breach bet on another Major with star-studded new roster

A big gamble from the Shuffle-partnered organisation.

by Tom Coles

Into the Breach have announced their full new roster with the signing of Mohammad “BOROS” Malhas as the fifth. The roster announcements began last month with the signing of Owen “smooya” Butterfield, but after announcing four players along with coach Gustavo “Juve” Alexandre and assistant Kevin “kRYSTAL” Amend, there was a long wait for the fifth.

Smooya even tweeted that trials for the final star rifler spot were still open. ITB CEO Sam “SlayTheMinotaur” Macedonio tweeted out a star-studded list of names considered for the spot that didn’t work out for one reason or another.

In the end the British organisation ends up with a seriously experienced team. Every single player on the team has competed at a Valve Major. Nicolas “Keoz” Dgus competed in the BLAST Paris Major final with GamerLegion, and smooya and BOROS have Major playoff experience with BIG and Monte, respectively. Dionis “sinnoppsy” Budeci and Flatron “juanflatroo” Halimi have not made playoffs, but did conjure up back-to-back victories over FaZe Clan at Majors with Bad News Eagles.

Juve returns to Into the Breach to coach the team, having previously stood behind the team for their BLAST Paris Major quarter-final run. Similarly, smooya is no stranger to Into the Breach, as he stood in for them for three months in 2022 alongside Thomas “Thomas” Utting.

Into the Breach is most well-known for its 2023 UK roster, which reached the quarter-finals of the BLAST.tv Paris Major; after losing star players Cai “CYPHER” Watson and Sebastian “volt” Malos, a series of roster changes saw the team struggle and all members were benched in May. Now, the question everyone is asking is, can this star-studded lineup mimic their previous success?

Into the Breach are now:

Owen “smooya” Butterfield
Dionis “sinnoppsy” Budeci
Flatron “juanflatroo” Halimi
Nicolas “Keoz” Dgus
Mohammad “BOROS” Malhas

Gustavo “Juve” Alexandre (coach)
Kevin “kRYSTAL” Amend (assistant coach)
