The group stages are over and bracket play is well underway at Insomnia 65. With several big names within the UKCS scene all in contention,
Insomnia
Insomnia64 finished on Monday afternoon, and after four days of competition we saw London Esports crowned the tournament champion. In a slightly delayed release (somehow I managed to pull my back closing my garden gate yesterday morning), here is the full final standings post for the event.
With the huge £30k prize pool up for grabs at i63, the top 16 teams at the tournament are awarded prize money. This means the intermediate tournament is more competitive than ever with £1,250 being awarded to the winning team. On Saturday, the Intermediate tournament consisted of 5 rounds of matches in a Swiss format followed by bracket play on Sunday.

As teams need four wins in the group stage to secure their place in the playoff bracket, this is the first round that teams can confirm their place. Teams that go through still play all six rounds of matches to determine seeds for the bracket. In this stage Business 5, Team Unique and Fnatic Academy won their matches meaning those teams are 4-0 and in the playoff bracket. They will continue playing to fight it out for seeds going into the bracket. A notable upset in this round was Heads Down Thumbs Up pulling off a victory against Rasta.
All the round 4 scores are as follows:
In the penultimate round of matches, teams fought for their place in the playoff bracket without having to rely on a final round of matches. Teams securing their spot in the playoffs here include Endpoint, Devious and CeX, Chetz and Fierce esports. Notable teams that have not yet secured a place in the playoff bracket are Cat345 and Rasta who have a final chance in the sixth round of matches.
All the round 5 scores are as follows:
The sixth round of matches was the final chance for teams to secure a place in the playoff bracket and for everyone to determine their seed. Team Unique took the win against Fnatic Academy meaning they secured themselves the number 1 seed going into Saturday. Rasta and Cat345 eased into the playoffs. The other matches were hotly contested with Salient, Swing Daddy, Heart&Soul, Mighty Luckers and Kicked Dropped Reformed taking victories and making their way into the playoffs.
All the round 6 scores are as follows:
The playoff bracket will commence on Saturday as teams fight for their share of the £30k prize pool. The bracket going into Saturday is as follows:
All the teams that didn’t make it into the playoff bracket will play in an Intermediate tournament where the winners will take home £1,250. There are still a lot of prizes for everyone to fight for!

We are now half way through the Swiss format group stage at Insomnia63. Three rounds of matches have been played with some high quality ties especially in the third round. The first round of matches were fairly routine and saw no upsets of note.
All the scores for round 1 are as follows:
Once again, round 2 saw results go as a betting man would predict. The most exciting match up came with Business 5 taking on Team monkaS. The business 5 squad (Kioshima, Boaster, Surreal, Kryptix and CRUC1AL) were pushed close by Team monkaS containing UK up and comer Leaf but ultimately edged out the match 16:13. CeX also beat Rasta 16-8 to maintain their unbeaten record.
All the scores for round 2 are as follows:
As the teams are separated by the Swiss format, we got some more competitive match-ups in round 3. Business 5 didn’t look phased by their shaky round 2 performance pulling out a 16-2 win over CeX. Fnatic Academy also had a close match on Train against Fierce Esports edging out the match 16-13. We also got to see our first overtime of the tournament with Peritus beating KillerInstincts 22-18. Mogadishu Firing Squad, Mint and Oblivion were awarded forfeit wins in this round. The teams undefeated to this point are Fnatic Academy, Cat345, Business 5, Devious, Endpoint and Team Unique.
All the scores for round 3 are as follows:
We will release another update today once the group stage has concluded so keep an eye out for it to stay up to date with the action at i63! However the UK Masters Twitter account has released the standings.
