It’s no secret that the UKCSGO site has been a little slow to load recently, and even crashed and become unresponsive. The main cause of this is the amazing growth of traffic we have seen over the last six months. The web server we use is a great little machine and has served RNR-eSports well over the years, but it is no longer suitable. Because of this, we will be upgrading to a new web server with far more power which will allow us to continue to grow.
As we will be performing a server upgrade, we are also going to take this chance to upgrade some of the resources and features we make use of too. This means that throughout the weekend you may find both the main website, and the County Championship website unresponsive.
The work is planned to swap the server over at 12pm on Sunday, but we will be starting prep-work will start on Saturday which could cause the sites to bounce a few times. If everything goes to plan then the website should be up and running by 3pm on Sunday. We will keep you posted via our Facebook and Twitter if that changes.
Finally, thank you for being part of the reason this upgrade is necessary. We started UKCSGO in April last year as a bit of fun and never expected it to grow to have such an active, passionate audience as it has now. Let’s see how long it takes us to out-grow this new server!
