With every group stage, the typical threat of upsets lingers in the LAN Hall.Â
Group B: wAVE’s Money Crew (12) Vs ProjectX (7)
One of the upsets in group B saw wAVE’s Money Crew (wAVE, daydr3am, breezeee, whisk, Trials) set to play against ProjectX (tamsteR, Ruleh, ShaunSki, adamxoxo, Pommey). In a standard BO1 group match, an unpredictable setting for either side. ProjectX being the favorites to take the map win against wAVE’s Money Crew. A shocker result for the game left ProjectX, who were without their main IGL adamxoxo for the game, in dismay after losing 16-8.
In later games wAVE’s Money Crew lost in a BO1 against Radix.EID (logzi, Kray, smooya, DanceyZ, dOMM) in a humiliating 16-1 game.
Group C:Â The Goose House Vs DOG Gaming (8)
In group C one of the first upsets of this group was between TGH (LukeJM, EddieK2, Tattie, -King-, jackblk3) and DOG Gaming (Yoshi, debaser, quiver, ashhh, mezii). TGH took down DOG Gaming 16-9.
Group C: Intrusion Vs Impulse UK (3)
To add to the upsets in group C Impulse UK (Samwell, JammyJames, Cynic, Alf, nukkye)Â seeded 3rd went against Intrusion (-Kelly-, WraithUK, spaceghost, Nars, Rossl3r) who weren’t even seeded in the tournament. 16-13 was the final
Group D:Â Rasta (9) Vs NiceEgo
Rasta Gaming (Xacty, Quartz, yan0, Hayden, psychiic)Â faced up against NiceEgo (CRJ_, FsN_1NjA, CrazyM8, Carterlees, BigBadBart). Going down to a match point to NiceEgo to pull it back and scrape out a 15-15 draw.
Group E: Chrome Gaming (5) Vs Team Descend (10)
In another upset, Team Descend (MontSta, Kai, 5haBo, iCY, DM_God) took down a side who were 5 seeds ahead of them, as they beat out Chrome Gaming (bmagic, JT, wafu, Skuxz, Nukeddog) in a close 16-12.
The Fallen Seeded Team
We see Viperio eSports (Samsaker, winternet, zRni, f1ame, stix) make an early exit to the main event. Seeded 15th the team fails to collect enough points to advance to the elimination stage. Instead ProficiencyHQ (hastE, Ryde, HuskyCS, Fordyyy, Barter) move into the elimination stage being the only unseeded team to work their way through.
