CTRL ALT DEFEAT rounded out their roster with Fizan “Fizzy” Anjum, who will be IGLing for the first time in his career. Fizzy will fill in the gap left after Jack “Sorex” Renton-Cooper was kicked after EPIC.LAN 44.
Fizzy previously represented The Last Resort, where they made consistent UKIC Division 1 playoffs, also making a top-four finish at EPIC.LAN 42 despite using Marco “MMS” Salomone as a stand-in. He also placed top-three at the inaugural UKIC Division 1 finals with Duck Duck Goose. Fizzy‘s most recent project, ANTARTICA, didn’t quite live up to their expectations, as they disbanded after one season together. Now, he will be taking on a new challenge as he looks to lead CTRL ALT DEFEAT to greatness.

BENJYMIN playing with CTRL ALT DEFEAT at EPIC.LAN 44
After making an impressive top three finish at EPIC.LAN 44, CAD looked like a real force to be reckoned with. But, after their regional success on LAN, they couldn’t continue this success online whatsoever. Straight after the high of a deep run, CAD made the audacious decision to kick their IGL Sorex. UKCSGO understands that this was because CAD wanted to play full-time, but Sorex‘s schedule didn’t align with theirs going forward. Despite a Cinderella run, they wanted more going into this season.
Unfortunately, CAD had a very rough end to the last season as they lost their UKIC Division 1 spot and failed to make ESEA Main.
This new roster started out in ESEA Open10 in Season 52 of ESEA. After a strong regular season going 12-2, they were unable to make ESEA Main as they went 2-2 in playoffs, one win away from securing the Main spot.
CTRL ALT DEFEAT will be looking to regain their UKIC Division 1 for Season 6 as they have entered the open qualifier. Normally, UKIC doesn’t have open qualifiers for Division 1, but because Reason Gaming has confirmed it will not be playing next season, it opens up an extra space.
However, they will have to compete against a team that lists Owen “smooya” Butterfield, James “bevve” Slinn, MMS, Robin “robiin” Sjögren and Hristiyan “REDSTAR” Pironkov. With only one Division 1 spot on the line, this could end up being a very difficult journey for CAD.

Fizzy playing with ANTARTICA at EPIC.LAN 44
Fizzy, as previously mentioned, has never IGLed in a team setting before. This could be seen as a big gamble for a team to pick up someone who doesn’t have experience leading a project. Regardless, IGLing has always been something that Fizzy has wanted to do, as he speaks to UKCSGO:
Onder messaged me a few days ago asking if I’d wanna trial and give IGLing ago and I agreed to trial as it’s always been something I’ve been wanting to do at some point. I knew the tactical aspect of leading wouldn’t be the issue for me but more or so the managing emotions.
So far it’s been going really well in terms of trials and early showings like the game against 8Sins in the TLR Pre-Season Invitational in which I was trying to add more structure. I wanted to get people used to certain macro on the CT sides there’s still a lot to do. Given that the guys are in Intermediate at the moment having failed to make Main barely last season, it presents the opportunity to use this as a building season and really get stuff down and get the finer details down.
Alongside the addition of Fizzy this season, CTRL ALT DEFEAT have further bolstered its lineup with coach David “DAVEY” Stafford. DAVEY comes in with a whole host of experience playing at a tier one level in North America, even playing at the MLG Columbus Major in 2016.
Fizzy spoke to UKCSGO about what it was like to work with DAVEY:
Working with DAVEY so far has been really interesting – as a person he’s really chill and shows us that we don’t have to overcomplicate things as long as everyone is on the same page. Hearing about his experiences in tier one NA and how they used to go about things really gives you a different perspective on things, hopefully his ideas alongside my own & the teams ideas allow us to reach a higher playing level.
Fizzy suggested to UKCSGO that DAVEY played a big part in why he joined CAD.
Seeing as CAD have DAVEY who’s played at the majors & played a good level in NA I figured i’d give it a shot as he’d be able to provide the support I’d need in making the transition and also managing peoples emotions/personalities if we were to lose a round we shouldn’t be losing.
CTRL ALT DEFEAT now finalise their roster as such:
Benjamin-Lee “BENJYMIN” Britton
Önder “onder” Tekin
Sebastian “z_nan” Voss
