From covering EPIC.LAN 37 with UKCSGO, to being the analyst of a top 20 team. Elliot “Stoick” Meccano-Thomas proves that UKCSGO breeds the smartest minds. [are we sure about that? – Editors Note]
A new face in the UKCS scene, Stoick has had a lot of success in a very short period of time. He started his esports career late last year covering EPIC.LAN 37 as part of the UKCSGO team and from there he joined Endpoint in December as an analyst. He stayed with the British organisation till April when he left for Polish side 9INE, being a part of the squad throughout their run at the BLAST Paris Major. He also acted as coach for the UEA Bluejays university team.
Sadly there was a prominent language barrier between the players and Stoick, so 9INE opted to go for a Polish-speaking analyst instead after two months. After his stint at 9INE, Stoick wanted to get some experience coaching beyond the university level, and joined back to Endpoint as an assistant coach, this time under Felix “Frog” Bergeron.
However, similar to what happened earlier in the year, Stoick received an offer that he couldn’t turn down and had to turn his back on the Sheffield-based org again. This time he would be heading to Norway.
After making top four at the Blast.TV Paris Major, Apeks had core components snatched away from them with Justinas “jL” Lekavicius being snatched up by Natus Vincere. However, they optionally chose to recalibrate their coaching department: Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg was promoted from the academy squad replacing Jakub “kuben” Gurczyński. The final piece of the puzzle came with the addition of stoick as their analyst.
An individual who has seriously flown under people’s radar has now just entered one of the best teams in the world, stoick has a fruitful career ahead of him.
Apeks have also made some recent roster changes, removing Martin “STYKO” Styk and replacing him with an academy player called Ådne “sense” Fredriksen. The HLTV #23 team exited IEM Sydney, their first S-tier event in CS2, in 9th-12th place. After all these changes, their team is:
Tim “nawwk” Jonasson
Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad
Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski
Aleksandar “CacaNito” Kjulukoski
Ådne “sense” Fredriksen
Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg (coach)
Elliot “Stoick” Meccano-Thomas (analyst)
Happy to finally announce that I’ve joined Apeks as their Analyst.
This team is incredible and I’m excited to see what we can do 🇳🇴 https://t.co/QHUkG06iJ4
