Gamerlegion bench their longest-standing player

volt has been benched from Gamerlegion.

After 540 days Gamerlegion’s longest-standing member, Sebastian “volt” Malos, has been benched.

The Romanian, who holds dual nationality and competed under the UK flag in his early career, joined GamerLegion in 2023 after his performance at the BLAST.TV Paris Major. This was in response to GamerLegion suffering the poaching of key players including star rifler Mihai “iM” Ivan to Natus Vincere. Ironically volt was “poached” from Into the Breach following a bidding war for his services. Since ITB’s Cinderella run at the BLAST.TV Paris everyone apart from AWPER Joey “CRUC1AL” Steusel who plays for Endpoint is now looking for a team.

He primarily played supporting roles on GamerLegion, achieving an average 1.00 rating with the German organisation despite a number of roster changes. GamerLegion competed at both the Copenhagen and Shanghai Majors, notably reaching the top 16 in the latter. They also won CCT Season 2 Europe Series 13 after placing second in three consequence CCTs in the Summer of 2024.

Volt’s exit can be traced to star player Timur “FL4MUS” Malev’s head being turned by Virtus.Pro. The young Russian was recruited from NEMIGA in May to replace the departing Isak “isak” Fahlen. FL4MUS broke out at the Major with a combination of star performances and a boisterous personality. That exit necessitated a replacement, and it initially seemed that MOUZ NXT prodigy Oldřich “PR” Nový would take the place. However, GamerLegion’s coach Ashley “ash” Battye in a post on X identified more significant role issues, which led to volt being also benched.

With reports linking GamerLegion to the signing of Ninjas in Pyjamas stalwart Frederik “REZ” Sterner, GamerLegion is set to head into 2025 without their rifler of 540 days. This means their new longest-standing player is former Endpoint AWPer Henrich “sl3nd” Hevesi, himself only recruited in May.

GamerLegion are now:

Henrich “sl3nd” Hevesi
Erik “ztr” Gustafsson
Sebastian “Tauson” Lindelof
Oldřich “PR” Nový
Frederik “REZ” Sterner (rumoured)

Ashley “ash” Battye (coach)
