GamerLegion has shut down its academy division, the German organisation has announced.
Starting last February, long-time UK in-game leader Oscar “LVN” Levin took on his first coaching role and assembled the project from scratch. With fellow UK player Oliver “leaf” Jackson in the IGL role (and Rūdolfs “rud” Osmanis briefly of FAMBIT AWPing) the team found early success winning United21 Season 13 despite the promotion of Andreas “aNdu” Maasing to the main roster. They also added UK rifler Jamie “Tree60” Callan following his departure from K10.
This was the first time leaf would be properly taking the step out of UKCS and also the first time taking the captaincy. He had previously played under tenured British caller Ryan “dox” Young for years. In their time together they rose to the top of the UK scene and had notably won EPIC.LAN 38 against Viperio who had just made the BLAST.TV Paris Major RMR. Tree60 was also making his first step internationally after making a name for himself in UK CS. Most notably winning UKIC League Fall 2023 Finals and placing second place at two EPIC.LANs and the UKIC League Spring 2024 Finals with K10.
Their results afterwards were much of a muchness although they did qualify for ESEA Advanced S50 play-offs, losing to Endpoint CeX and Passion UA. In September the organisation opted for a leadership change, benching leaf and parting ways with LVN to bring in another Brit, Adam “Adam9130” Ahmad as IGL. Despite the addition of Adam9130’s experience GL Academy missed out on ESEA Advanced play-offs and had few good results in online tournaments to speak of.
This means that Tree60 returns to free agency ahead of a new season, with the hot prospect looking for somewhere he can develop his talents.
