Jack “Gizmy” von Sprecklesen will play the PGL Copenhagen CS2 Major RMR for Monte instead of Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev.
One year ago Gizmy was part of the Viperio roster which went to the RMR for the BLAST Paris Major, narrowly losing to Fnatic and taking a map off Sprout but ultimately heading home with a 0-3 record. With Monte’s talisman sdy sidelined by illness, Gizmy will play for the Ukrainian organisation for at least the tournament’s first day.
Gizmy is the team’s registered substitute, being a member of academy roster Monte Gen. He joined them in November and they have found some success, albeit mainly in lower-tier tournaments. They won United21 Season 8: Division 2, beating fellow academy side GamerLegion Academy in the final, and were runners-up in United21 Season 10 & IceBonus Series #1.
It’s unclear how long sdy will be on the sidelines, but as Monte’s star player last year and the 27th highest-rated player by HLTV for 2023, Gizmy will be filling some big shoes. The Brit is confirmed to play the first day of the RMR tomorrow, where HLTV’s #10 team will play two best-of-ones starting with an opener against ECSTATIC at 12pm GMT.
