Husky: “[LAN pressure] doesn’t really bother me”

With the first match of the day landing in the win column, husky spoke about the pressures of LAN.

After seeing the group favourites fall at the first hurdle, genetexe avoided a similar fate by securing a win in their first match of the day, we caught up with genetexe and former EKO player Oliver “husky” Gollings. To talk about his team’s expectations, the advantages of experience and the end of the EKO line-up.

How is it coming to LAN now that you’re slightly older and more experienced compared to some of the newer people?

I don’t know, every LAN you go to makes it easier, people are worried about “ah I can’t hear anything” or using a different setup. It doesn’t really bother me anymore.

What are your teams goals for this LAN?

I mean our goal is… I think we can win it to be honest. Like obviously you need to go into a tournament thinking you can win it otherwise there’s no point. I think we are kind of like a dark horse.

You recently played with the EKO line-up with LVN, can you tell us a bit about that and how it ended?

So pretty much how it started to crumble for us was when JamieG was getting offers from a lot of things. I think he had a offer from a academy team which is really good for him obviously, when you play in them leagues its sort of easier and a lot of exposure. There was that and then it was just people getting offers from other places, mad got an offer for FAMBIT and then JamieG said he couldn’t play at all because of his arm. So it was just me, Rory (cryths) and Oscar (LVN).

What’s it like playing a LAN without an org, in compared to playing with one?

There’s a lot less pressure. When you are with a org they are paying for everything and stuff like that. So you want to do them a solid and get them a good placement and the exposure that they have given you as well.

Would you say its easier to play without one?

It really depends, I guess as a individual yeah it is. When you are playing in a team and you have all the practice to fall back on it is easier.

And how do you feel about potentially playing against your old coach EMPEROR?

I reckon it will be fun.

Do you think you will win that one?

Yeah, I think so.
