With the first Insomnia iSeries of the year being just over a month away, Multiplay have announced the launch of an online open qualifiers for CS:GO, with the winning team taking 5 tickets for i57 at the NEC during 24th – 28th March.
With the tournament allowing a maximum of 128 teams, the tournament will start running on Saturday, February 27th and end on the Sunday after all matches have concluded. Running a format of either Double Elimination if the team count is 64 or under with Bo1 for the first 2 rounds and then moving to Bo3, with the lowers being Bo1 all the way through. If the team count reaches over 64 the tournament format will be in Single Elimination, running Bo1’s for the first 2 rounds and again shifting to Bo3 afterwards.
The use of battlefy for the qualifiers will come as both an expected change and relief for some, after Multiplay’s new system (Gaming Grids) broke during i56, causing widespread delays and anger from some after expecting something much better after the demise of Clanforge. According to admin Jon “Vicious” Kelly, This new system comes readily recommended to the team and they’re testing out for the qualifying games, for the potential use at i57.
Key Info
Starts – Feb 26th at midday.
Ends – Feb 27th after all matches are finished.
Prize – 5 x tickets to Insomnia i57 with Early Access.
Format – Double elimination if under 64 teams, Single if over 64. Bo1 for first 2 rounds, Bo3 after, Lowers Bo1.
Online qualifiers have been a great stepping stone before to bring some higher ranking EU teams to the event in other games, so it will be interesting to see which team wins these tickets.
