Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckleson has joined Monte Esports’ new academy project, Monte Gen. The Major quarter-finalists have followed the example recently set by GamerLegion, who have launched their own academy headed by the UK’s own Oscar “LVN” Levin, and signed another in a list of international academy rosters.

Gizmy has already attended an international LAN. He was part of the Viperio roster which qualified for the BLAST Paris RMR in Copenhagen earlier this year, finishing last in the competition but capturing hearts after narrow defeats to Fnatic and Sprout. He was benched from the roster in April following a disappointing run of form that saw them lose 21 HLTV matches in a row. Gizmy trialled with Ex-Coalesce after that as the orgless roster finished 3rd-4th in ESL Premiership, but left the team with their future uncertain over the summer.
He has most recently been playing with The Prodigies, a semi-fixed team created by Prodigy Agency and designed to put their clients “in the shop window” to be signed to professional contracts. Gizmy achieved a credible 1.01 rating with The Prodigies as they played in ESL Challenger League Season 46, CCT Central Europe Series 8 and more. Monte’s announcement tips him as the team’s “playmaker”, so the Ukrainian org clearly have faith in his ability.

He is joined on Monte Gen by one team-mate from The Prodigies, Roberts “shield” Tipsis. The young Latvian will take on in-game leading duties for the new academy roster, in addition to donning the AWP as he has throughout his career. They are joined by two Ukrainians in Vladyslav “leen” Stepanov, who will rifle, and Ivan “AiyvaN” Semenets, who joins as coach, along with two players mainly known from the Benelux scene: Belgium’s Roman “n0te” Hamze, who played for EC Brugge, Lithuanian Gytis “ryu” Glušauskas, formerly of LowLandLions and KRC Genk.
Monte’s main roster currently sits inside the HLTV top 10, having recovered from the sale of Mohammad “BOROS” Malhas to Falcons with strong finishes at ESL Pro League Season 18 and Roobet Cup 2023.
