Nemesis enter Counter-Strike with ex-Endpoint core

A Paris reunion, a first coaching job, and two youngsters.

by Tom Coles

Team Nemesis have announced the signing of their first-ever Counter-Strike team, headlined by former team-mates Thomas “Thomas” Utting and Joey “CRUC1AL” Steusel.

The roster also features James “bevve” Slinn along with Roberts “Frip” Poļakovs and Dawid “tein” Sladkowski. Notably, bevve joined Nemesis as a Business Development Specialist earlier this year.

Thomas and CRUC1AL reunite two years after they made the oft-mentioned miracle run to the quarter-finals of the BLAST Paris Major with Into the Breach. They also teamed together for two years at Endpoint CeX, which also featured the squad’s new coach, Robin “robiin” Sjogren.

Thomas spoke to UKCSGO saying:

After taking a year break, I’m looking forward to competing again. Nemesis has trusted me to build a roster where we can nurture talent while building from the ground up. Realigning with Joey [CRUC1AL] and building something with purpose similar to our old ITB roster was the goal, and with the additions of Frip, Tein, and Bevve, I feel like we can develop the roster into a very competitive team. We have also gained the experience of Robiin, who’s been one of my oldest teammates throughout CS:GO while he transitions into his new role as head coach

CRUC1AL, who rejoined Endpoint last year, won Fragster Challenge Series Season 1 earlier this year with international squad WildLotus following the Sheffield-based organisation’s exit from the esport. While Thomas made a stand-in appearance with OG last year and was most recently seen on BOXED.GG exiting UKIC League Season 6 at the quarter-final stage, along with robiin and bevve.

robiin hails from Sweden, but played a number of stints with UK teams. Over a twelve-year-long career, he represented teams including Infused, Coalesce, DenDD and three stints with Endpoint. Notably with the latter, he attended Dreamhack Open Anaheim 2020 and ESL Pro League Season 13 before he was benched for William “mezii” Merriman. He most recently played for Alliance. Having played primarily as an in-game leader and support rifler during his career, Nemesis will be his first coaching position.

Nemesis CEO Chris ‘Momo’ Evans said:

The journey began with rekindling our working relationship with Thomas. Anyone familiar with the UK scene knows his ability to build cost-effective but genuinely competitive rosters. Beyond his talent-spotting and leadership, Thomas has always been a pleasure to work with — our dialogue throughout the process was honest, productive, and ultimately made the decision easy. He was a natural foundation to build around.

Adding CRUC1AL is a statement. His experience at the highest levels of play brings both legitimacy and structure to the team. He’s someone who has been there, done that — and we’re confident he’ll be a key pillar in helping this roster reach its ceiling.

Bevve brings much-needed stability and an unshakeable positive presence. Every team needs someone who steadies the ship, and bevve’s ability to anchor rounds — and energy — is something we value immensely.

Finally, Tein and Frip represent the next wave. Young and hungry, we see immense upside in both. We’re excited to give them the platform to grow.

Nemesis are:

Thomas “Thomas” Utting
Joey “CRUC1AL” Steusel
James “bevve” Slinn
Roberts “Frip” Poļakovs
Dawid “tein” Sladkowski

Robin “robiin” Sjogren (coach)
