In the post-COVID world LANs are often few and far between with notable events such as Copenhagen Games being indefinitely postponed whilst NerdStreet’s Fragadelphia struggles with financial problems. However Northern Ireland has found itself a hero with the Queens University Belfast Esports Society hosting a CS:GO LAN. The two day event will run from the 26th to the 27th of June 2023 at Queens University in Belfast.
There are eleven teams signed up with some notable names in attendance including Adam “Dinko” Hawthorne on Herm’s Sous Crew, Tom “arTisT” Clarke and Seán “Atrox” Greene on The Sopranos, Ciaran “biscu” King, Kia “surreal” Man, and Callum “girafffe” Jones on PAAARFUL, and Adam “AdamJC” Colwell and Matas “Extinct” Strumila on The Strumila Brothers. According to some of the attendees, many of the players agreed to mix up the teams to make the event more fair and enjoyable.
The LAN is only the second event to be held on the Isle of Ireland post-COVID with Lotus LAN taking place last year. This marks incredible work from the University’s esports society who have toiled tirelessly behind the scenes to make this LAN happen.
