Rhys Decides to Stick With TLR

As the sun comes out, Rhys has his flip-flops ready.

Rhys “Rhys” Stumbles has recently announced that he will remain with The Last Resort, having previously stated that he was to step down from the team. TLR recently finished fifth in the UKIC Season 2 Division 1, so when Rhys announced his departure many fans were left confused as to why.

While at EPIC.LAN 42, UKCSGO interviewed TLR coach Elliott “Fett1s” Fettis, where he mentioned that he was “screwed” after Rhys departed his team. This was most likely due to the fact that strong IGLs come at a premium in competitive Counter Strike, especially in the UK, so the difficult task to replace them has the ability to make or break a team.

Previously, Rhys regarded motivational issues that he was experiencing as the driving factor to his decision to depart the team.

My decision to leave the TLR guys was purely due to my lack of motivation, it was a selfish choice that I hope I can prove worth with my new team.

Motivational issues is not uncommon in esports. In top tier CS, we have often seen players burnout within existing rosters, and the UK scene is no exception. Much like the top tier, players often return back (just look towards Lukas “g1ave” Rossander and Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz with Astralis). It is, however, not often the case players return this quickly to their former teams.

Throughout this ongoing situation, Rhys has often praised TLR and his teammates for their understanding and professionalism in supporting his decision situation. The following quote was from his statement after leaving TLR.

Have nothing but good things to say about TLR as an org and the players on that team. On the contract Chef was nice and understanding with me in a situation that I caused and we came to an agreement, he was helpful throughout and I wish them all the best. As for new team, hopefully will be announced next week!

Having made the decision to re-join TLR, Rhys highlighted the fact that the support coming from the organisation was a major factor in his decision to return. Rhys had initially planned on joining the ex-RAPTORS team, that are set to take part in the upcoming ESEA Advanced season. Despite the potential on offer, the team did not manage to work out. Rhys went on to highlight the amount of supportive individuals in the UKCS scene on show, no matter the drama and “chaos” in the scene.

I rejoined TLR because recently I’ve been struck with a lot of personal life drama (legit last week or two) and there’s not many people who understand my situation fully but everyone at TLR supports me fully and I couldn’t ask for a greater group of people to play for and with.

Situation with ex-raptors didn’t go great but atm I’ve realised that everything happens for a reason, pun not intended with that new team aha I couldn’t be happy to be back with them and hopefully can prove my worth. But will say the last few days have made me now know the amount of amazing people we have in our scene, people I wouldn’t even call close friends reached out to support which I never expected. So yes UKCS might be chaotic atm but we have amazing people in our scene.”

Having experienced our fair share of drama recently, the UKCS scene (or at least this reporter) is happy to see the TLR team back together and cannot wait to what they achieve together.
