Royals EC start the new year by adding Eduard “Ed1m” Ichim to their roster as Ersin “ERSIN” Chiriac departs. Alongside this, they have replaced Andreas “addi” Wallenberg, with fellow Swede Alexander “relax” Löfqvist who will be taking up the role of coach. This is not the first time relax and Ed1m have worked together with relax being Ed1m‘s coach on the majority Dutch roster Tutel.
Royals EC has had a slow start in ESEA main currently sitting 2-2. Ed1m has already played with Royals in their most recent official against PEACEKEEPERS where they won 13-9. Royals’ last season ended with a somewhat underwhelming 7-7 scoreline but with this set of roster changes – including the addition of familiar face Jérémy “jeyN” Nguyen – they will be hoping to improve on that record.
Regionally, Royals finished 5th in the league phase last season in UKIC Divison 1 with a 13-9 victory over eventual finalists Belfast Storm being the highlight of their group stage endeavours. With top 6 guaranteeing playoffs their 5th place saw them through to the quarterfinals where they unfortunately faced eventual tournament winners in Verdant. Verdant reverse swept the series 2-1 ending Royals’ season with a disappointing top 6 placing tied with Dripmen.
Outside of UKIC and ESEA last season the team did find success in the Galaxy Battle #1 just before they joined Royals EC. Unfortunately, though it hasn’t felt like they have been able to replicate those results. These changes signify that they are looking to reach those heights once more.
During UKIC Season four ERSIN was able to compete with Royals EC as he is a UK resident. With now his removal alongside Oskar “oskvr” Myszka they are only left with one UK player. Thus, ERSIN‘s replacement in Ed1m will not be gracing the server in their bid for a domestic title, instead, the team will play with two UK substitutes. Ed1m and Keymar “shateri” Shateri shall be placed on the sidelines in favour of oskvr and British resident Edgaras “entz” Luksas complimenting Kyle “Swaggy” Wilson to satisfy eligibility rules for the tournament.
Royals are:
Kyle “Swaggy” Wilson
Keymar “Shateri” Shateri
Jeremy “jeyN” nguyen
Eduard “Ed1m” Ichim
Andrei “waZz” Corneliu LipoÈ™teanu
Alexander “relax” Löfqvist (Coach)
Edgaras “entz” Luksas (substitute)
Oskar “oskvr” Myszka (substitute)
We're thrilled to welcome @Ed1m_ as our fifth player as well as @relaxcs2 as our new coach for the main CS roster!
Looking forward to progressing together! 👑 pic.twitter.com/2n9rJXSofg
