UKCSGO Top 10 April

by Archive

One hot topic of conversation that always appears to be in contention is rankings of the best teams in our scene. Therefore, as the first of many feature series, we present to the UKCSGO top 10. For this first iteration, an independent body chose ten teams who each nominated a representative. These teams have the opportunity to face up against each other in online tournaments, offline events and practice games and thus if anyone were to know who belongs in the top ten, it is the players themselves.

Each team ranked the teams excluding themselves in order, allocating each team a score. After each team had given their rankings, the sum points total for each team was calculated and the rankings for the month were decided. This feature breaks down the top 10 list and gives insight into who stands where, and most importantly, why.

These votes were gathered shortly after the recent i54 event.

Here is the UKCSGO Top 10 for April as voted by the players:

10. Circadian eSports

23 pts

 CINDER, kARMA, lovie, dUdLeY, truff
Circadian consists of the remnants of the Rasta.B2G side that managed to make a few waves in the UK CSGO scene towards the latter stages of last year. The team consists of some talented aimers in the form of CINDER and kARMA, but they are yet to make a significant impact on the upper echelons of the scene with this new lineup. They have yet to be seen in any major UK tournaments, but with their position in the top ten, they must be making an impression amongst the bigger sides.

9. exceL eSports

27 pts

 mvicK, resu, Andrew, chron1c, Boaster
As the first of the two invites to the ESL UK Premiership, the newly named exceL esports (formerly known as Lime Goblins) clearly have something to prove going in to their group games on Monday. After a string of steady performances in the qualifiers, they have shown that they are not shy when it comes to playing when it matters. Though this vote was conducted shortly after i54, the exceL side have now gone on to show that they are without a doubt one of the better sides within the UK. One thing for sure, next month, they’re probably going to be higher up.

8. MALIK eSports

34 pts

 Immi, CarL, Powell, inkG, MIGHTYMAX
MALIK eSports are the first side within this top ten to have made it into the ESL UK Premiership through the qualification tournaments. Having beaten both Circadian eSports (number 10) and Perilous Rage (number 7) in the final of the last qualifier, MALIK have made quite an impression. The team consists of some familiar faces that are looking to find a steady footing within the UK CSGO scene, even with their recent roster change. More recently, the team disappointingly dropped out of the ESL UK Premiership to up-and-comers exceL eSports, however with an experienced Powell now in the ranks, they’re looking to bounce back.

7. Perilous RAGE

44 pts

 quiver, ash, Metta, zeo, luster
Despite having qualified for the ESL UK Premiership behind MALIK in the final qualifier, the Perilous RAGE side have not had the best run of luck in recent memory. At i54, the side unfortunately drew K1CK in the second round of the upper bracket and were sent to face Rasta Gaming to fight for their tournament life. Rasta narrowly got the better of them, dropping them out in an unrepresentative 9-12th position. The teams also suffered two harsh losses in the UK Premiership, which will perhaps have a bearing on the votes next month.

6. Rasta

46 pts

 r0m, dephh, Surreal, chz, twirl
The new Rasta side consists of some of the former VexstaR members that managed to cause quite a stir at i53, making it all the way through to the final before having their streak ended by Team Infused With a couple of new talented players among the ranks and an affinity for success, the Rasta side have managed to just outrank Perilous RAGE by just two points, owed somewhat down to their top six finish at i54.
