GamerFest Dublin is Ireland’s biggest gaming and esports event where players and fans alike gather flock to the RDS for the weekend. But most importantly, Counter-Strike returns to Ireland as GamerFest announces the esports titles which will feature at its upcoming event in May.
Last year we saw Counter-Strike played for the first time at GamerFest with a €750 prize pool. Coming through the open qualifiers Spiceboys, featuring the likes of Tom “arTisT” Clarke and Verdant team-mate Matas “Extinct” Strumila, won the Grand Final against underdogs Virginitis. Even though the second map was thrilling and went to overtime, the more well-known names of Irish CS won out.
After a huge success with an impressive turnout, Counter-Strike 2 in partnership with the Irish Challenger League returns. Featuring online qualifiers followed by the Semi-Finals and a Grand Final on the stage on Saturday, May 25th. The difference here is that the Semi-Finals will be played in Dublin, not just the Grand Final like last time.
This is a big difference as it will give more players incentive to travel as they have the opportunity to play more than just one game. This was expressed by previous GamerFest winner Ciaran “biscu” King at the last event.
Adam “Incipiens” Conway, the Esports co-ordinator of GamerFest, stated: “We’re thrilled to host both VALORANT and Counter-Strike 2 tournaments at GamerFest, offering players and fans an incredible experience at Ireland’s biggest gaming event… These tournaments shine a light on the incredible esports community in Ireland, and we can’t wait to see the very best teams go head to head.”
In addition to esports tournaments, visitors to GamerFest can also expect additional experiences such as VR gaming, sim racing, retro gaming, multiple live stages, tabletop gaming, cosplay and more.
We're bringing the heat 🔥 with two of the most electrifying tournaments in the esports arena: Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant! 🎉
With prize pools of €750 for each tournament, the stakes have never been higher! 🏆
