Into the Breach enter the battlefield once again after dropping their roster towards the back end of last year. Going into 2023 they will be fielding this revamped squad led by Thomas “Thomas” Utting. Thomas is not unfamiliar with this organisation as he used to play under the team’s banner earlier in 2022. Now with this newly revamped roster, he will be joined by UK talents Sebastian “volt” Malos, alongside the only returning player from the original squad, Cai “CYPHER” Watson.
Since he left FAMBIT last May, Volt followed in Thomas’ footsteps by taking an international path whereby he performed at a high level with fnatic Rising. During this tenure, the international squad qualified for Season 43 of ESL Challenger and proceeded to retain that spot in Season 44. Another accolade he claimed while playing in the academy team was winning the WePlay Academy League Season 5 in which he got a 1.12 HLTV rating.
Rounding off the British trio is CYPHER, the very sought-after rifler was one of the original players that the organisation signed when they first entered CS:GO. In his time with the original Into the Breach team, they suffered from mixed results but secured themselves consistently as the best team in the UK from our UKCS Expert Power Rankings. Moreover, they also peaked at #41 in the world whilst the Swedish duo of William “draken” Sundin and Alfred “RuStY” Karlsson were on the squad.
The British core will also be joined by one familiar face to the UK scene, and one newcomer. The first is Joey “CRUC1AL” Steusel, who is currently benched on Endpoint after playing in the squad since February 2022. The Dutch AWPer showed his prowess multiple times against the best in the world while representing the British organisation, and will be looking to bring that experience into this new project.
The final player is the Polish veteran, Karol “rallen” Rodowicz, who has never played in an official team outside of Poland. After leaving Anonymo at the start of 2022, the rifler danced around standing in for teams here and there, almost qualifying for the Rio Major with Gamerlegion at one stage, but never truly settling. UKCSGO understands that rallen had an offer from another high-tier European Team, but turned them down for this new squad.
Sources close to the team have informed us that Owen “smooya” Butterfield was originally part of the squad that they were building, but due to unknown reasons he left the project. There were also rumours that he would be joining alongside Ukrainian IGL Rodion “fear” Smyk, who both played together in the IEM Road to Rio, in which they qualified for the Europe RMR in the latter half of last year.
UKCSGO’s sources also confirmed that whilst this team was being built, CYPHER also had interest from an NA-based team, but decided to pursue this project.
UKCSGO reached out to the owner of Into the Breach Sam “SlayTheMinotaur” Macedonio for a comment:
After searching high and low for the perfect roster for us, I think we’ve cracked it with this new iteration. We weren’t sure if we would be able to form another U.K. majority roster, but stoked that we’re able to contribute to the U.K. scene once more. Lofty ambitions for these guys, we’ll see where it takes us!
Into The Breach currently are:
