Just over a week ago Reason Gaming announced their return to the UK CSGO scene, picking up an all UK roster including former Rasta.B2G members alongside long standing UK player Shane “shaney ” Smith.
The team were set to make an impression, with a hopeful outlook on qualifying for the ESL UK Premiership and competing at a number of offline UK events. However as it stands the team are still yet to qualify for the Premiership despite making the semi finals in both qualifiers. The second of the two qualifiers however did not see the team present in its full form.
Firstly, Kia “surreal” Mann was unable to be present due the timing of a pre-booked holiday, setting the Reason roster back a man. This minor set back was then magnified due to the sudden departure by Shane “shaney” Smith, who left the newly announced team very close to the start of the second qualifier. Reportedly, this is to go and play for another team that is more in line with Shane’s ambitions within CS:GO. The move was recently touted as “questionable” on the Reason Gaming website.
Shane gave us the following statement:
I left the team due to wanting secure practice, its actually really unfortunate because the team are great, the players are great and the have the fundamentals to be even better. I have utmost respect for every player and of course the org. A series of unfortunate timed holidays/moving dates/ university obligations meant that LAN preparation would have been massively damaged. I got an offer that meant i could play 5/6 days a week until LAN, so i thought it would be better for my progress than to sit here and wait whilst everyone else is practicing.
Despite this loss, the team are set to participate in ESL’s last chance qualifier, with their newly found fifth member Johnathan “Jonny” Podd. This gives Reason UK the following roster:
Scott “kARMApangya” Campbell
Kiefer “truff” Paterson
Kristians “CINDER” Bogdanovs
Kia “surreal” Mann
Johnathan “Jonny” Podd
