HudzG retires from competitive CSGO

by Archive

Today HudzG announced that he is retiring from Competitive CSGO effective immediately. This won’t come as too much of a shock to most, as his activity has been less and less since starting his full time job of player liaison at Gfinity, but it is sad to see the announcement in plain text as he is a part of UK CS history.

He released this statement earlier on his Facebook:

I’m going to try and keep this short and sweet. Recently I was lucky enough to be given an opportunity to work full time for Gfinity, it is something I have be aiming towards for a while now and unfortunately it means that my playing “career” is over for the foreseeable future.

This is also due to other factors, motivation , lack of time and working most weekends away etc. It is impossible to keep everything going at the same time. I have struggled in many ways for motivation since playing for mTw and the feeling has never quite been the same since most of the people I spent years playing with or against have now retired. So it feels the time is now right to call it a day.

I will always walk away unsatisfied with how CSGO turned out for me at the start, being very unlucky with several lineups ending prematurely but I am truly grateful for the times I had with CSS and Team Infused in CSGO.

As for the immediate future after taking advice from friends around me I will remain a 6th player for Team Infused for when the guys need me whilst also streaming more often in my spare time which will enable me to concentrate on my work with Gfinity and also turn my eye towards colour casting again. This was something I tried towards the end of Css and enjoyed doing so.

Finally thanks for all the support and friends that I have made over the years, there are too many names to mention but you all know who you are and what this means to me!

Although he may be closing this chapter on his competitive career there is always hope that he will return one day like many CS retirees before him. The only silver lining that we can take from this is he is not leaving the esports world and we will see a new side of George “HudzG” Hoskins.

Team Infused are yet to comment on who will be replacing HudzG on their roster, but have mentioned that they should have it announced by the start of next week.
