Here’s one for the smaller teams in the UK. Over on the /r/CSGOUK subreddit, a new tournament was announced for all those teams outside of our Top 10. The UK Ascending Tournament.
From the 4th-9th January 2016, a tournament being held in order to root out the upcoming UK teams, the unknown variables in the scene. It will be streamed on their twitch account and will feature a prize pool of at least £100. There are set to be 16 teams taking part in this tournament, hosted on the popular UK gather service GAMEFACE, which will feature a double elimination format. The schedule is planned to be:
Monday 4th January
Upper Round 1: BO3 19:00
Lower Round 1: BO1 22:00
Tuesday 5th January
Upper Round 2: BO3 19:00
Lower Round 2: BO1 22:00
Thursday 7th January
Upper Round 3: BO3 19:00
Lower Round 3: BO1 19:00
Lower Round 4: BO1 22:00
Saturday 9th January
Upper Final: BO3 13:00
Lower Final: BO3 13:00
Cons. Final: BO3 16:00
Grand Final: BO? 20:00
As you can see, it’s set to be a long but exciting tournament for all those taking part, with reasonable times for those returning from work.
James “wAVE” Dunn, one of the lead organisers of the tournament gave us this comment:
The tournament is inspired by CIS Rising and other similar cups that I’ve seen on hltv. I just felt that there is very little opportunity for upcoming teams here and I hope that a cup like this can strengthen our scene. The goal is to make a really good showing on this first run, and make this a regular thing. Of course to make it regular we’re going to need more support and most likely more sponsors. The remaining 11 spots are open to application. The only requirements are that you are not featured in the UKCSGO Top 10. You are also restricted to having one non-UK/IE player per team. More information, and where to apply, can be found here.
