UKCSGO venture to the ECS Finals, London!

by Archive

As of today, UKCSGO will be live from the SSE Arena in London, with our goal to bring you full coverage of the event as matters unfold, albeit, with a twist. Our targets at the event are to bring you more interview-focused style content, including direct thoughts from both players and their respective teams. Aside from our interview-related content, you will also be able to find summaries as things unfold during the day – instead of the usual ‘match report’ articles that you see from us.

We hope you enjoy our new take on event coverage, this time around, read below for more information on the event itself, including information on groups, prize pool and the entire event schedule. Make sure to keep an eye on our Twitter for updates as things unfold!

So, to kick things off, let’s dive into the format of the event. As usual, we’ll be seeing a double elimination group stage, with both elimination and decided match-up’s, of course, being B03. This leads us nicely onto groups, of which we’ll be seeing two, Group A and Group B.

Group A;

  • Luminosity
  • G2
  • Liquid
  • NiP

Group B;

  • Astralis
  • Cloud9
  • fnatic
  • TSM

Let’s take a deep dive into the schedule for the ECS Finals. First up, there was Day 1 (Friday June 24th), where we saw our first set of Bo1 matchups played, as well as both Group A and Group B’s respective top spots getting claimed. Winners in bold are below.

Friday

  • Luminosity vs NiP – Train – 16:12
  • Liquid vs G2 – Cobblestone – 16:6
  • Luminosity vs Liquid – Train – 16:12
  • Astralis vs TSM – Cobblestone – 12:16
  • fnatic vs Cloud9 – Dust 2 – 16:13
  • TSM vs fnatic – Cobblestone – 14:16

Most notable would be TSM kicking up notable results, winning against Astralis fairly convincingly and then taking it extremely close to fnatic to go through as second in their group. Topping their respective groups, however, was Luminosity and fnatic which gave them a free pass to the Semi-Finals on Sunday.

Kicking off tomorrow, we’ll get to see the bulk of the action, including both elimination match’s as well as both decider matches.

Saturday

  • 12:15 – Group A Elimination Match – B03
  • 15:15 – Group B Elimination Match – B03
  • 18:15 – Group A Decider Match – B03
  • 21:15 – Group B Decider Match – B03

Lastly, on Sunday, we’ll find ourselves witnessing a set of Semi-Finals, as well as of course, the Grand Final.

Sunday

  • 13:00 – Semifinal #1 – B03
  • 16:30 – Semifinal #2 – B03
  • 21:00 – Grand Final – B03

The prize pool distribution for the event is currently still unclear, however we do know that the winner of the event is set to receive $750k of the $3.5mil tournament.
