One of the biggest pieces of news this month was that Sebastian “volt” Malos has joined Fnatic Rising, the organisation’s academy team. With this huge news in mind, UKCSGO’s Ne0kai had the opportunity to chat to volt and get his thoughts on his future, the future of FAMBIT and the team atmosphere within Fnatic Rising.
How did this opportunity come about?
“Back in February I was contacted by cube to try out for the team but that was postponed due to roster shuffles happening between the academy and the main team at the time. On top of that, it was mid-season and I didn’t want to just leave the guys like that, considering we had planned to go to Insomnia and also had invites for upcoming HLTV tournaments. Fast forward to just a week after Insomnia, my father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. I immediately stepped away from the game and FAMBIT for a couple of weeks and it was and still is mentally the hardest period of my life so far. I’m still in disbelief and it hurts more and more every day to wake up to the reality that he’s no longer here.
Sometime during the period that I was away, cube contacted me again and at that point, I just went for it. It wasn’t an easy decision to make and I did spend a lot of time thinking about it but eventually, I came to the conclusion it was time to try something new and see where it takes me. I have to say, the guys in FAMBIT have been very supportive throughout this difficult stage for me and I’m very thankful for that.”
What do you believe is the future of FAMBIT now you’ve left?
“I genuinely think that FAMBIT can go further now than before. Even with two new players on the roster they still have a lot of potential, look at the things we achieved in the last year for example and consider that was with very very limited time for practice. Add some org support to that (finally) and it will be very good in my opinion. Hopefully, this move will turn out positive for both sides!”
How do you feel about the opportunity to play for Fnatic Rising?
“I’m now really looking forward to my future with Fnatic Rising. I’ve had a bit of time with the team and I’m happy with how everything has been going inside and outside the server.”
How has the team been so far?
“The team atmosphere is great and we’re improving each day which matters the most, but I’ll leave the results to speak for themselves. Personally, I have more motivation than ever to make the most of this opportunity and I hope that I’ll not disappoint. The next month will be a test for us due to the short time we had to prepare but I believe we’ll be ready to do damage. Expectations are high from everyone in the team and the first objective I’d say is to win the WePlay Academy League.”
Fnatic Rising play Spirit Academy tomorrow in the WePlay Academy League season 4 and are hot favourites to win, only time will tell how far volt and the rest of the team can go. FAMBIT has recently picked up Gizmy and Mad.
