Cai “CYPHER” Watson has been listed on Raptors EC’s roster for the ESL Premiership Closed Qualifier, taking place this weekend. He will step in the shoes of their Danish in-game leader, Rasmus “zodi” Frølich, who will be on holiday until August 23. The Raptors will be fortunate to have such a competent rifler stepping into the shoes of zodi, who will return to his duties at the conclusion of the qualifiers.
This marks CYPHER‘s 13th ESL UK Premiership appearance under nine different team banners, four of which were made with Into The Breach, who he departed from earlier in July this year. In his final ESL Premiership campaign with the Thomas “Thomas” Utting-led team, they were able to dethrone Endpoint in a Grand Final where CYPHER shined above the rest, with a 1.23 rating, capping a campaign which included a dream run to the Paris Major quarter-finals.
CYPHER most certainly won’t be a stranger coming into this team, being amongst the UK scene, as well as his temporary teammates for a while. Having played mix teams with a few of the Raptors’ individuals, he most notably teamed up with Arkadiusz “ifan” Dabkowski both as a player and a coach on CeX and RADIX respectively.
During his short tenure, CYPHER will help Raptors EC compete for a spot at the ESL Premiership Autumn 2023 LAN finals beginning with the first closed qualifier this weekend.
The Raptors EC roster for the ESL Premiership Closed Qualifiers will be:
Slaven “AwaykeN” Lyubenov
Reegan “ReegaN” Ward
Marco “MMS” Salomone
Arkadiusz “ifan” Dabkowski
Cai “CYPHER” Watson (stand-in)
Daniel “papp” Hart (Coach)
