The eSports Hub Announces CS:GO League

by Archive

The eSports Hub recently announced their steps into UK Counter-Strike, with them already setting up a core invite-list of four teams. The site itself is centred around its self-proclaimed community-driven aspects, as well as setting itself an objective to act as a focal point for both players the respective teams that form within. From the information that has been provided to us at UKCSGO, I can safely say that they are hard at work producing a variety of features to back up these points, including a core database to act as an information point for all players and teams within the UK, both from an amateur and professional perspective. Aside from this we can also expect to see support for things such as free-agent listings, tournament listings – including more than just their own internal events, as well as lastly their focus on entertainment, which will mean a bank of VODs will be accessible throughout their site, featuring things from plays of the week to information on upcoming events.

Of course, what is central to this new’s piece is the announcement of their £500 Counter-Strike league, one already backed by four organisations in the UK. Those being uFrag, exceL, CAZ (Notably not their European side but in fact their academy roster) and lastly, Barrage. The level of this backing is aided by the format of the league, with four teams, listed above, invited, pitted up against four teams who made it through the open qualifiers. The league will require teams to play once a week, on a currently undecided day, with the league also boasting a collection of ‘dedicated casters’ – though we are yet to learn who the talent is, meaning that the league will be offering a certain level of exposure to the teams that find themselves competing.

The current prize pool sits at £500 in total, split £350 / £100 / £50, between the Top 3 teams. Aside from this, there is not much information for us to highlight, aside from the few small rumblings of them investigating areas to run a small LAN at.

In the next coming weeks, we hope to see more information come to light in regards to their league, for now, however, an announcement of another small league for UK Counter-Strike can only bode good things for the scene overall.
