Team uFrag.AF split; org re-evaluating position

by Archive

In an interesting turn of events tonight, Team uFrag’s main team uFrag.AF, have been proactively on Twitter systematically announcing their departures from the organisation. Team uFrag have never been the pillars of stability, going through numerous roster changes over the years they have been around, but there has always been one man who has stuck with Team uFrag through thick and thin, that being Adam “adamxoxo” Rotherham.

He however decided to announce on Twitter that he had left the organisation which signalled a bit of a shockwave throughout the scene. Meanwhile Harry “Pommey” Crawford simply said this on Twitter earlier as well. The rest of the players currently haven’t spoken out about their future plans, but rest assured they should find homes in the ever evolving state of the UK scene.

In a statement announced via the organisation’s Twitter account, further details were revealed which were equally as shocking, which meant that UK Esports shining beacon, Elliot “Sed” Brown, was re-evaluating whether to continue the Team uFrag brand and organisation as he has continually sought after funding to no avail.

Despite the UK’s continued strides forward in both the grass roots scene, the overall investment into the scene and the continued progress through the majority of titles, we have still not seen any real progress being made into organisations currently, with a continued citation of lack of funding in terms of either salary development or funding for LANs. There is news breaking elsewhere that investment of substantial sizes is due at any point during this year with a whole host of potential investors currently investigating whether the UK Scene is viable enough for potential investment, but these projects are a while from coming to fruition.

Sad days for Team uFrag and it’s main team.

It currently means that we may lose one of our most favourite organisations from the UK Scene if they cannot find suitable partners to help fund and make some progress with their overall goals and ambitions, which to me would be a great shame.

The statement was as follows on Team uFrag’s website:

Firstly we need to announce the already public knowledge that the uFrag.AF roster has split. It’s a shame and an unfortunate ending especially to Adam’s and Hypes two-year reign with us but due to team chemistry not being what it should, the players have decided to go their separate ways. We would like to wish all of the line up the best for the future, and I have no doubt they will all go on to do very well as they are a very talented group of individuals!

Now regarding everything else….

Tough decisions have to be made in any business, however, we have now come to a point where the resources we have available are just not sufficient for what we realistically need going forward to ensure we can make our mark and be considered one of the better and more recognisable UK organisations.

We have always operated on a low budget for the most part and as much as in hindsight there is always a list of things we could have done better. I still feel as if we have created something solid whether it be our branding, the staff, community involvement or even looking at our analytics data and seeing how much it’s grown.

As from today, I will be looking and evaluating all options regarding the future of uFrag. On a personal front due to a change in circumstances, I can no longer provide what I feel is needed in order for ourselves to really make an impact which is why we are open to discussions relating to investment or a potential merger in order to sustain what we have and our ability to grow.

I am still incredibly confident that given the right resources that between myself and those currently within uFrag whether it be staff, players, content creators we can make it into a leading UK esports organisation and I wouldn’t be wasting my own time if I did not believe this to be the case.

All of our staff and content creators are remaining together as we seek to finalise out future.

For anyone wanting to get in contact regarding the above please contact myself via [email protected] or @uF_Elliot on Twitter.
