PhoenixUK airs later this evening

by Archive

The new talk-show that aired back last month as part of epic.LAN’s new project the epic.STREAM Team, will return on this evening to go over a wide variety of subjects from recent weeks.

On last week’s show, we covered the Shanghai Major in Dota2 as it warranted a hefty debate on why things went wrong, and how Valve allowed it to happen the way it did. It was a damning Major and one that the majority of the Dota2 community & Valve would like to forget. We spoke in great detail of the issues they had and what really should have been done prior to the event. We also went over the epic.SEVENTEEN tournament results for Dota2, StarCraft2 & Counter-Strike:Global Offensive. We covered the roster changes in the week aftermath from epic.LAN and went into detail over what we had actually missed (which was an announcement of Team CeX’s new players).

This week’s returns to the normality of focusing primarily on UK eSports, and we have had some great news for the UK CS:GO Scene too which was the ESL UK Announcement for the return of UK Premiership with a slightly bigger prize pool of £10,500. The show will focus on the qualifiers and cite the recent article for some of the background on some of the teams involved in the qualifiers.

Our other topics will include the Sky Sports dip into the eSports waters with their special interviews and coverage of IEM Katowice last weekend, and more importantly their highlights show which was on Sky2 last Monday evening. We have one of the resident journalists from UKCSGO.com to come on and talk in great detail about the highlights show, whilst the panel will also give their opinions on how Sky handled themselves.

The final subject of the day will include League of Legends and mostly the UK Premiership results thus far, how it’s shaping up and who will be likely of making the Finals scheduled for early April. We also have other news related to the LoL scene around players being banned, and the controversy surrounding TCA in the last week.

It’s sure looking like it will be a good show so make sure you tune in and watch the panel give their honest insight into UK eSports.

Sonny “Herold” Neal – Stream Production & CS:GO Panelist

  • Counter-Strike:Global OffensiveESL UK Premiership Announcement: The panel will give their thoughts on the UK Premiership announcement, the prize money increase, the format, and the current teams in the qualifiers. We will also give a quick run down of any of the teams in the qualifiers and who could get out of the qualifiers into the Promotions.
  • General eSports (Although CS:GO)Sky Sports interest at IEM Katowice: The Panel will give their thoughts on the show that premiered on Monday 7th March at 10pm. Special guest Michael “Duck” Moriarty will be on from UKCSGO.com who watched the show live on the night to give insight into what he felt. Will this mean a push from Sky Sports and more mainstream outlets? Will there be a possibility of something similar to TV rights (for the English Premier League) that could be a future for eSports? Did Sky present themselves well enough in the show?
  • League Of LegendsESL UK Premiership: We’ll be looking at some of the statistics from the early part of the season, & the current standings of the league. The Panel will weigh in their thoughts on why banned players seem to be an issue in the ESL UK Premiership season (aka Team Infused). Finally we will look at the TCA issue & apparent scam in regards to money not being paid to players.

Next week we will be doing a very special insomnia57 show which we will detail next week. We will be covering the three major eSport titles, LoL, Dota2 & CS:GO and giving our thoughts on how the tournaments will happen. If anyone from any of the teams in attendance want to get involved and be a special guest on the show, do get in touch with Tom “Gumpster” Gumbleton on Skype (gumpster08) to arrange the time for when you appear.
