SOS look to Ping and rud to inject new life into their team

by arnie

SOS, the former EKO team, have decided to part ways with Kirk “Tadpole” Stephens and Matas “Extinct” Strumila in an attempt to revitalise the squad. The team now welcomes Javier “Ping” Griffiths and RÅ«dolfs “rud” Osmanis to replace the outgoing riflers.

Extinct had been with the original UMX core for over 1000 days, an exceptionally long time by UKCS standards. During this period, the team posted significant results on their rise to the top of the domestic scene, including an international LAN win in 2021 at the SiGMA esports cup Malta under Coalesce. Recently the team has suffered from diminishing returns, highlighted by their failure to win Insomnia 69, a tournament most had them as nailed-on to win, with Extinct having a particularly poor performance in the final, failing to post a positive rating in any of the four maps played.

After the Insomnia disappointment, the team replaced James “Mad” Debano with Tadpole and results picked up, including wins over Into the Breach and 1PIN; the number one and two teams in the country (behind Endpoint obviously), respectively. Despite this, the team clearly felt another shift was needed, and re-uniting with the criminally underrated Ping and 16 year-old hotshot rud makes for an interesting mixture on the roster.

with these changed SOS now consist of:

Tom “arTisT” Clarke
Jack “Gizmy” Von Spreckelsen
Callum “Girafffe” Jones
RÅ«dolfs “rud” Osmanis
Javier “Ping” Griffiths
Ciaran “biscu” King (coach)
