You might not know this, but Into the Breach have beaten FaZe and ENCE at the BLAST.tv Paris Major. Look we aren’t going to stop talking about. UK CS is one map win away from playing in-front of a crowd at a Major and making history for the third time in a row. Nobody can saw the road has been easy for Into the Breach as they have now taken down FaZe and ENCE, two highflyers up until this point.
In the aftermath of the incredible last-night upset against FaZe, UKCSGO’s Dafydd Gwynn sat down with Sebastian “volt” Malos to discuss the differences between the FaZe and Apeks, whilst also delving into the support he’s received from both UK and Romanian fans.
You’ve just beat FaZe, I’ll just ask you straight up, what’s going through your head right now?
(laughs) It’s crazy to be honest, I don’t even know what to say. It was a crazy game, especially after the Apeks loss which was pretty sad for us because we went into that game expecting to win. We didn’t really show up in the first half and the way we played that game was just super bad and seeing that we had to get FaZe in the next game we were a bit worried, but we didn’t get that affect us. Going into the game we just played with the same amount of confidence and we just gave it our all.
What would you say the difference was between the Apeks game and this FaZe game?
So if we look back at the RMR as well, we actually had a slow start there against NAVI where we lost the first game. They were also owning us in the first half, so maybe it’s just a first game thing. They also played in the Challengers so I guess they had a warmup, we came in here pretty cold. There was a lot of things going wrong, we were losing a lot of man advantages, 5v4s, 5v3s, all those kind of rounds which we have been having issues with recently, but we are trying to fix. It happened way more in that game, first half they got like 12-3 which on the T-side you can’t really come back from that. It was a bad game from us simply.
When you got to 15 did you get some flashbacks to that NAVI game where you were up 15 and couldn’t close it out?
We weren’t actually up 15, it was 14-13, but yeah it was super close. But no I didn’t get flashbacks because we had way more room to close out the game, it was five match points that we had. So we weren’t getting worried. Obviously we knew that just because we hit 15 we could have just easily thrown the lead away, so we kept the same focus, we made sure everyone was not getting too excited and closed it out.
What are your thoughts going into ENCE tomorrow?
*This interview was recorded before the ENCE match.
We will prepare for it the same we did as FaZe, we are confident as we don’t really mind playing anyone here. All the opponents are going to be hard, so we can’t expect to get easy draws. Now from 1-1 it’s just going to be hard games, so are just going to do the same thing we did to FaZe.
My last question is have you already exceeded your expectations?
I didn’t really set expectations, obviously not going 0-3 was the expectation (laughs) so I guess in some ways we did. Now we have just got to see how far we can go.
Do you have anything else you want to say?
Thank you for all the messages from everyone, there’s been a lot of support on Twitter especially a lot of messages from both the Romanian and UK scenes which is really super nice to see. I hope the support continues for the rest of the event!
